It's not as simple as saying that the PS2 has a 120M installbase while the Xbox has a 24M installbase and concluding, based solely on this data, that the PS3 should have outsold the 360 by leaps and bounds. The timeline says it all. The PS3 is on track to sell as much as the PS2 during its initial years. Likewise, the 360 is also selling at the pace of the original Xbox. The PS2 only really took off during its third year in the market when the price cut was introduced....

That was a wild estimation by the author. VGchartz numbers for the 360 is at 21.8M which in itself is already inflated. By comparison VGchartz has the PS3 at 16.22M with an error of somewhere over 1.4M units.

Now for the PS3 figures we're going to use Sony's official record of 16.84M total as of September 2008. Since Sony sold roughly about 800K unit...
Lets not forget that you have an IQ of 70 and the outlook is bleak for any improvements.
Sony should be thankful that they have managed to establish a strong foothold in Europe. The price cuts didn't do as much damage as most people predicted. However, the real battle begins this holiday season where most of the hardware and software sales are made.
As weird as this may sound, Sony needs to advertise the PS3 as the best BluRay player in the market right now. HDTV buyers are aplenty this coming season.

A demo for FF13 will be out early next year so it is safe to assume that FF13 will be out in Japan sometime after the demo.

Alot of the items on the list are based purely on speculations. However, 2009 will usher in games such as Kill Zone 2, InFamous, MAG, Eye Pet, Heavy Rain, & White Knight Chronicles. 2009 is looking rock solid. If FFV13 manages to make it in there then I'll be really happy.
Polyphony Digital better release Gran Turismo 5 next year to appease the fanbase. It is the biggest game in Sony's library afterall.
